Neighborhood Sandwich Shop Lions & Owls Quietly Closes In Historic Core

Fast casual lunch spot Lions & Owls has shuttered just under a year after replacing a Subway on the corner of 5th and Hill in the Historic Core.

Known for its turkey club sandwiches and selection of salads, food quality was never the issue at Lions & Owls, but rather the restaurant’s inability to stay open and adhere to consistent hours. It’s unclear what will follow Lions & Owls, but the eatery remains fully intact with bags of chips hanging from the wall and menus on tables that haven’t been touched in weeks, if not months. Given its location on the northeastern corner of Pershing Square just across from a Metro station with heavy foot traffic, there’s plenty of reason to remain optimistic for whatever business pops up next in the beleaguered space.

DTLAer reached out to the sandwich shop for comment on the closure, but so far hasn’t heard back.
